NDIS Plan Reviews Don’t Have to Be Scary: Here’s Your Calm Checklist

Plan reviews – they can seem like such a daunting, scary event, even just hearing the words alone can bring on nerves and anxiety.

But breathe easy — because at Community Support Squad, we truly do believe that plan reviews don’t need to be scary. In fact, with a little preparation and a good mindset, they can actually be empowering (yes, really!).

We’ve put together your ✨ Calm Checklist ✨ so you can walk into your next review feeling confident, clear, and ready to advocate for yourself like the absolute legend you are!

📋 Before Your Plan Review:

It’s all about getting organised (and maybe treating yourself to a new notebook… or three).

✅ Write down what’s working well in your current plan. What’s helped you kick goals, feel supported, or make positive changes?

✅ List what’s not working or what needs to change. Be honest — if something isn’t helping, it’s time to speak up.

✅ Think about your goals. Are you dreaming of new adventures? Skills you want to build? Supports you want to explore? Now’s your moment to map it out.

✅ Collect updated reports and letters from therapists, doctors, support workers, or anyone else in your corner. Fresh evidence = stronger requests.

✅ Ask your Support Coordinator to review reports and help you prepare. (Psst, that’s literally what we’re here for.)

✅ Note any big life changes — moving house, health updates, relationship changes, or new needs. The NDIA wants the full picture.

📋 On the Day of Your Plan Review:

Channel your inner boss. This is your time to shine. ✨

✅ Bring your notes and documents — you’ll feel way more in control.

✅ Stay calm. You are the expert on your own life. No one knows your journey better than you.

✅ Be clear about what you need support with. Don’t water it down or try to be “easy” — be real.

✅ It’s 100% okay to ask for a break if you get overwhelmed. Deep breaths, quick stretch, sip of water — then back at it.

✅ If you don’t understand something, speak up! “Can you explain that a different way?” is a totally valid, powerful question.

📋 After Your Plan Review:

Victory dance time. 🕺💃 (We highly recommend it.)

✅ Ask for a copy of your new plan (and your meeting notes if possible — these can be gold later).

✅ Celebrate. Seriously. Plan reviews can be emotionally draining, and you showed up for yourself. That deserves a moment of pride.

✅ Meet with your support team to go over changes, make a game plan, and keep the momentum rolling.
